No one could have imagined that teenagers aged 14-18 in Hai Duong City, Gia Loc and Thanh Mien districts, in need of money, would join together to rob property with bold, daring and sophisticated methods. The price they had to pay was too high at the age of just starting out in life.
Discussion
Le Cong C. (born in 2009, residing in Yet Kieu commune, Gia Loc) has known Nguyen Thi Diem Quynh (born in 2005, Gia Xuyen commune, Hai Duong city) since June 2023. At around 10:00 a.m. on December 4, 2023, C. borrowed a motorbike from an acquaintance and removed the license plate to put it in the trunk to avoid being detected to pick up Quynh. After picking up Quynh, the two went to Nguyen Minh T.'s house (born in 2008, Quang Minh commune, Gia Loc) to play. At this time, Nguyen Tu A. (born in 2007, residing in Doan Ket commune, Thanh Mien) also came to play at T.'s house. After sitting around for a while, A. told the group: "We don't have any money to spend right now." Cuong said: “Then now we just have to rob, rob 2 electric cars and 1 motorbike. Sell the 2 electric cars for money, and leave the motorbike for T. and A., and let everyone go to Hai Phong to play. What do you guys think?” Quynh, T., and A. all agreed.
At around 6 p.m. that same day, C. told T. and A. to prepare weapons. A. went into T.'s bedroom and found two glass beer bottles, then put them in his backpack. T. drove a motorbike carrying Quynh, C., and A. on the streets, looking for people who were not paying attention and threatening to rob them.
While passing through Ninh Giang district, C. told A. to get off the roadside and pick up 5 more glass beer bottles to put in their backpack, then the group continued on.

About an hour and a half later, the group arrived at Road 191M in Nhu Tinh village, Quang Khai commune (Tu Ky), and discovered LGH (born in 2008), a local, riding an electric motorbike in the same direction with a friend. C. told T. to get closer to force H.'s motorbike to the side of the road. At the same time, A. held a beer bottle and hit the front of H.'s electric motorbike, asking him to drive to a deserted section of the road to avoid being detected. The group got out of the car and saw H. and her friend holding a phone, so C. asked for the phone and the password. Not stopping there, C. told T. to snatch H.'s motorbike key and opened the trunk. Seeing 110,000 VND, C. immediately took the money and hid it. The first attack was successful, and the group continued to move to Thanh Mien district.
When arriving at the phone store on 18/8 Street in Thanh Mien town, C. told Quynh to sell a phone for 800,000 VND and then spend it all together.
That same night, Thanh continued to drive the group to Binh Giang district to find an opportunity to rob property. When they reached provincial road 392 in Ba Dong village, Binh Minh commune, the group discovered N.D.LN (born in 2008 in Thai Hoc commune, Binh Giang) riding an electric motorbike carrying a friend in the same direction. C. told T. to overtake him, then forced, blocked, and asked N. to stop the motorbike on the side of the road. C. received a beer bottle given by A. and approached N., holding it up to threaten him. At the same time, T. grabbed the motorbike key and forced them to open the trunk, but there was nothing. Angry because they couldn't find anything, T. and C. immediately stole the electric motorbike and drove away towards Ke Sat town (Binh Giang). At this time, A. drove a motorbike carrying Quynh behind and looked for a place to sell the stolen motorbike. Unable to find a place to sell the motorbike, the group rented a room at a motel in Cam Phuc commune (Cam Giang) to sleep.
Around 10am the next morning, the group took the stolen electric motorbike to a shop in Gia Loc town (Gia Loc) and sold it for 2.6 million VND. With the money from selling the motorbike, T. took the group to a shop in Dai Son commune (Tu Ky) to re-apply decals to change the motorbike's color to avoid detection by the authorities.
The group's robberies took place boldly and recklessly in Tu Ky, Binh Giang, causing great panic among the people and negatively affecting social security. Upon receiving information about the incident, the Investigation Police Department of Binh Giang District Police urgently organized forces to conduct a review and verification to quickly clarify the subjects. After only a few hours of investigation, the Investigation Police Department of Binh Giang District Police discovered and summoned the group C., Quynh, T. and A. to the headquarters. Faced with clear evidence, the above subjects had to bow their heads and admit their guilt.
Recently, the People's Court of Binh Giang district brought the defendants C., Quynh, T. and A. to trial for robbery. The court sentenced Quynh to 9 years and 3 months in prison, A. to 7 years and 6 months in prison, C. to 5 years and 3 months in prison and T. to 5 years in prison.
Although the defendants received punishment for their crimes, this was an undesirable ending because they were still young and, because of their love of playing and competing, they gradually became criminals. They all dropped out of school and, lacking the management and education of their families, fell into depravity and could not overcome temptations.
