The People's Court of Hai Hau district (Nam Dinh) has just opened the first instance trial of 20 members of the "night robbery gang" for disturbing public order.

The jury sentenced defendants Nguyen Huu Phuoc and Luu Quang Hoang to 33 months in prison for disturbing public order.

For the same crime, defendant Vu Van Thang received 27 months in prison, Tran Van Truong received 24 months in prison.

The other 16 defendants were sentenced to minimum sentences of 21 to 30 months in prison, but were given suspended sentences up to a maximum of 27 months in prison.

The content of the case shows that in early July 2023, Tran Quoc Doanh (17 years old, residing in Con town, Hai Hau) created a "chat" group on Facebook called "Night robbers".

The purpose is to invite group members to join "going out" in the evenings.

When riding a motorbike on the road, if you meet other pedestrians, especially groups of young people, the whole group will cause trouble and attack.

When going "on the run", the group agreed to wear hooded jackets, masks, and bring tridents, iron pipes with knives, cat knives, and beer bottles.

On the evening of July 26, 2023, some members of this group went to Con town to play.

At around 11 p.m., this group was sitting on the bank of the Muc River (Con town) when they saw a group of about 15 young men carrying iron pipes with knives attached riding motorbikes on the road.

This group immediately discussed and gathered a group to "attack" the opposing group.

On the evening of July 27, the members prepared knives, pitchforks... then the group rode 11 motorbikes through many streets at high speed, lined up, honked, and cut in front of the vehicles in front to demonstrate their power.

Then this group joined a group of 10 people and continued to drive motorbikes at high speed, revving the engine, weaving and swerving on many roads.

After moving through a few more locations, the group dispersed and went home.

A few days later, some members of the group came to Hai Hau District Police to surrender and voluntarily handed over some of the weapons they had used.
