The three resettlement areas of Lang Nu, Nam Tong and Kho Vang in Lao Cai province are being accelerated to soon hand over to people in their new homes, preparing to welcome the Lunar New Year 2025.
The historic storm and flood in early September left serious consequences for Lao Cai province. In particular, landslides have wiped out many houses, threatening to collapse at any moment.
To rebuild and ensure a stable life for the people with the motto of settling down and working, Lao Cai province and sponsors quickly surveyed and arranged resettlement areas for the people.
Accordingly, the new resettlement areas are spacious, fully equipped with public facilities and ensure safety against natural disasters.
Lao Cai province has simultaneously started construction on three resettlement areas in Lang Nu village (Bao Yen district) and Kho Vang and Nam Tong villages (Bac Ha district).
After nearly 3 months, the construction units have made efforts to overcome all difficulties and speed up the progress. It is expected that before December 31, the resettlement areas will be completed and handed over to the people to stabilize their lives and prepare to welcome the Lunar New Year 2025.
At Lang Nu village (Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district), currently more than 300 officers and workers of Army Corps 12 are working hard in 3 shifts to complete the main items before December 22. 40 houses have been roofed, doors installed and are entering the final stage of completion. Along with that, auxiliary items and community activity houses and schools are also rushing towards the finish line.
Mr. Hoang Quoc Bao, Secretary of Bao Yen District Party Committee, said that the district always closely coordinates with the construction unit, removes difficulties, and speeds up the progress to soon complete 40 houses for the people of Lang Nu village.
According to Mr. Bao, the district is seeking opinions from higher authorities to set a time frame for the inauguration and handover of the resettlement area. At the same time, the district has also directed the locality and the people to plant trees and vegetable gardens to create a green, clean, and beautiful landscape before the people move to their new homes.
In Bac Ha district, two resettlement areas in Kho Vang village (Coc Lau commune) and Nam Tong village (Nam Luc commune) are also entering the final stage of completion.
Specifically, the resettlement area of Kho Vang village has an area of about 3.5 hectares, arranged for 35 households to move in. The resettlement area of Nam Tong village has an area of 8.5 hectares, initially building 15 houses for 15 households in Ban Cai hamlet.
Mr. Ha Duc Thanh, Director of the Project Management and Construction Investment Board of Bac Ha district, said that the progress of the two resettlement areas above is guaranteed according to plan.
According to Mr. Thanh, the People's Committee of Bac Ha district has directed the People's Committees of Coc Lau and Nam Luc communes to organize a lottery to determine housing locations for the people. The lottery process was public, transparent and received the consensus and support of the people.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Chairman of Coc Lau Commune People's Committee, said that all 35 houses in the resettlement area of Kho Vang village have been roofed with corrugated iron and have had their floors paved. Construction units are continuing to paint the walls and complete auxiliary items.
