On the afternoon of November 29, Mr. Hoang Van Diep, Head of Lang Nu village (Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai) said that the authorities were urgently blocking off the scene and investigating the cause of the explosion on the mountain top in Lang Nu that morning.

According to Mr. Diep, the explosion occurred at around 9:00 a.m. the same day in the area where a horrific landslide killed 60 people last September.

"The loud explosion could have been caused by some large rocks that had not collapsed completely in the historic landslide. Now they have collapsed again, causing a loud explosion and smoke and dust flying out. Fortunately, this area is uninhabited and uncultivated, so there was no damage," said the head of Lang Nu village.

Immediately after the incident, leaders of Bao Yen District People's Committee coordinated with functional forces of Phuc Khanh Commune to be present at Lang Nu village to inspect the situation and send a working group to approach the area where the explosion occurred to determine the initial cause.

At the same time, the working group of the District People's Committee also coordinated to propagate and mobilize people to calmly wait for instructions on how to respond if an incident occurs.

On September 10, a historic flash flood buried 37 households in Lang Nu village, affecting 158 people. On September 21, the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for a 10-hectare resettlement area, about 3km from the old location.

After 2 months, according to information from the People's Committee of Bao Yen district, the construction unit of the Nu Village reconstruction project has completed the roofing of all 40/40 stilt houses.

For the community cultural house and school project, the frame, floor and walls have been completed, and the construction unit is preparing to roof.

Currently, Army Corps 12 - Truong Son Construction Corporation (Ministry of National Defense) is maintaining about 200 officers and workers along with many machines and equipment, determined to complete the resettlement area before December 22.

The resettlement area is located on the sim hill, including 40 two-story houses built in the traditional Tay style with kitchens and toilets, with a total area of 1,000 m2 per household.

The residential area is invested synchronously, from housing to cultural houses, schools, roads, electricity, water, ensuring a stable life for people.

On November 13, representatives of 33 households affected by flash floods and landslides in Lang Nu village drew lots to choose housing locations in the resettlement area.
