This year, the dengue fever epidemic came early and increased rapidly. Hai Duong province currently has 6 dengue fever outbreaks in Cam Giang, Ninh Giang, Tu Ky and Thanh Ha.
On August 10, a representative of the provincial Center for Disease Control said that the dengue fever epidemic in the province this year came early and increased rapidly in late July and early August.
In the last two weeks of July and the first week of August, more than 30 cases were recorded each week, mainly with domestic pathogens. Some old outbreaks from 2023 have now begun to record cases. Most patients are in stable health and have been discharged from hospital.
The province has 6 active outbreaks in Cao Xa and Cao An villages (Cam Giang); Do Chang and Hong Du villages (Ninh Giang); Bich Cam and Quang Phuc villages (Tu Ky); Zone I of Thanh Ha town; Phu Tinh and Thanh Quang villages and Trang Liet and Thanh Son villages (all in Thanh Ha). Some outbreaks have clusters of cases with 2 or more infected people in the same family in Thanh Son commune; Thanh Quang commune and Zone I of Thanh Ha town; Quang Phuc (Tu Ky)...
In the active outbreaks, most are in places with dense vegetation, large gardens, and some houses have many containers of stagnant water containing mosquito larvae...
According to records at medical facilities, many patients have arbitrarily bought medicine to treat themselves for many days at home and when the fever does not go down, they go to medical facilities. Arbitrary treatment at home inadvertently leads to serious progression of the disease, even causing complications. At the same time, the failure to test for the disease of these patients can easily lead to transmission to others...
August and September are usually the season of dengue fever. “No mosquito larvae, no dengue fever” is the message from the health sector, recommending that all people join hands and spend 10 minutes each week to kill mosquito larvae.
From January 1 to August 10, Hai Duong province recorded 192 cases of dengue fever, an increase of 68 cases compared to the same period last year. Hundreds of cases were recorded in July and August alone.
