The 2024 high school graduation literature exam is good, with a high expected score range, from 7 points and up.

According to the Hai Duong Newspaper reporters at some testing locations in Hai Duong City, Nam Sach and Binh Giang districts, candidates left the testing room in a rather relaxed mood. Many students said that the literature test was quite good and within their ability, but a bit long. The social essay question about the meaning of respecting individuality was very good because it was close to each person. In the literature essay section, many students predicted that this year's test would be on poetry, so they reviewed "right on target". There were also many students who were "off target" but still did the test because this was the content in the general review outline. Many students were confident that they could get 7-8 points or more.

Nguyen Thi Ha Chi, who took the exam at Hong Quang High School (Hai Duong City), said that she was a bit nervous at first, but when she saw the literary essay on the work "Dat Nuoc" she breathed a sigh of relief because she had practiced a lot. After finishing the reading comprehension part, she focused most of her time on the literary essay. She found the social essay part very interesting and relevant to the candidates. "I think I will get 8 points or more," Chi said.

Vu Ngoc Anh, who took the exam at Binh Giang High School, said that she expected this year's exam to be on "Dat Nuoc" but did not review much but instead reviewed "Viet Bac". However, she was still confident that her test would score 7.5 points or higher.

Tong Xuan Thanh, a student at Nam Sach High School, said that although he had to review the lesson “Viet Bac” by heart, he still did well on the lesson “Dat Nuoc” because he had already studied it. He estimated that he could have scored over 8 points on this test.

With a test time of 120 minutes, literature is the only essay subject of the 2024 high school graduation exam. This year's literature test is basically the same as last year's with 2 parts: reading comprehension (3 points) and writing (7 points). Notably, the writing part has a social argumentation question (2 points) and a literary argumentation question (5 points). In which, the social argumentation question requires presenting one's own thoughts on the meaning of respecting individuality; the literary argumentation part is about the excerpt "Country" by poet Nguyen Khoa Diem.

Some literature teachers commented that the exam closely followed the sample exam structure of the Ministry of Education and Training. The exam was suitable for the high school graduation exam, but there was still differentiation. The expected score range would be quite high, from 7 points and up.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hieu, a literature teacher at Nam Sach High School, assessed the reading comprehension section, the questions are differentiated according to the levels of recognition, understanding, and application. However, the basic reading comprehension section does not pose any difficulties for candidates, and candidates can easily get points in this section. The writing section, the social argumentation question requires presenting thoughts on respecting individuality. This is a very good issue, at this age students all express their individuality and want everyone to respect their individuality. Students will have many practical experiences to write and express their own thoughts.

The most scoring question of the test is about the excerpt “Country” which is a familiar text, a key part of the 12th grade literature program. Advanced questions will differentiate students well. Students must apply their knowledge of literary theory and the artistic style of poet Nguyen Khoa Diem to achieve high scores.

The first exam day had a bit of rain at the beginning of the day, but the weather was cool and favorable for candidates to take the literature test. Many parents brought their children to the exam site early and waited for them outside the exam site. Police were on duty to ensure traffic safety and security at the exam site. Youth volunteers were present at each exam site to support, cheer and encourage candidates.

This morning, more than 23,200 candidates registered for the literature exam. 23,173 students came to the exam site to take the exam, 77 were absent, those who were exempted from the exam, absent without reason and a few with reasons. No candidates or invigilators violated the exam regulations.

In the afternoon of the same day, candidates continue to take the math exam (90 minutes), test time starts at 2:30 p.m.
