At the 9th National Sports Festival, shooter Tran Quoc Cuong brought home the fifth gold medal for the Hai Duong delegation.

The veteran shooter won the gold medal in the men's 50m pistol slow-fire event. Next, Tran Quoc Cuong and shooters Nguyen Tuan Hai and Nguyen Hoai Son won another silver medal in the men's 50m pistol slow-fire event. This is the second event of the Hai Duong delegation at this year's congress, after rowing.

Competing at the congress, the Hai Duong shooting and flying disc team has 25 athletes and 3 coaches (including coach Vu Khanh Hai who is also an athlete). The team aims to win 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals. The shooting and flying disc events will take place from November 23-29 at the shooting range of the National Sports Training Center in Hanoi. The Hai Duong team with experienced shooters, especially Tran Quoc Cuong, can completely achieve the medal target.

Previously, after finishing the rowing events at the Thuy Nguyen Rowing Center (Hai Phong), the Hai Duong rowing team excelled in exceeding the medal target when they ranked third overall, winning 4 gold medals and 3 bronze medals. The top teams were Ho Chi Minh City (4 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 1 bronze medal), Da Nang (4 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals). At this tournament, Hai Duong rowing was set to win 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals.
