Vietnam wins another gold medal to rank 4th at the 2025 Asian Shooting Cup

Vietnam won the gold medal in the men's 25m standard pistol team today, February 21, to end the 2025 Asian Shooting Cup in fourth place.

25m pistol men's standard three-shot, four bursts of five shots each. The time is 150 seconds for each burst in the first round, then reduced to 20 seconds in the second round and 10 seconds in the third round.

Vietnam sent 5 shooters to participate. The results were Phan Cong Minh with 567 points, Tran Cong Hieu (563), Pham Quang Huy (561), Ha Minh Thanh (545) and Vu Tien Nam (521).

The three team scorers Cong Minh, Cong Hieu and Minh Thanh helped Vietnam win the team gold medal with 1,675 points. Following were Indonesia (1,673 points) and South Korea (1,670 points). For the individual results, Phan Cong Minh won the silver medal.

This was also the final content of Vietnam on the last day of competition. The Vietnamese delegation closed the 2025 Asian Shooting Cup in fourth place, winning 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 5 bronze medals. All belonged to the pistol events, while the rifle had no achievements. The ranking was equal to the 2023 tournament, but the number of medals achieved was 2 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze.

Leading the overall rankings this time is Kazakhstan with 12 gold medals, 9 silver medals and 4 bronze medals. Following are Korea (7 - 4 - 8) and Singapore (3 - 4 - 2).

Before today's achievement, Vietnam's first gold medal in the mixed 10m air pistol event belonged to Pham Quang Huy and Trinh Thu Vinh. After that, Ha Minh Thanh, Pham Quang Huy and Vu Tien Nam won gold in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol team event.

In addition to Phan Cong Minh's individual silver medal, Vietnam has two silver medals in the men's 10m air pistol team (Pham Quang Huy, Lai Cong Minh, Nguyen Dinh Thanh) and the men's 25m revolver team (Quang Huy, Minh Thanh, Phan Cong Minh).

Trinh Thu Vinh and Quang Huy won 2 bronze medals in the women's and men's 10m individual air pistol. The remaining 3 bronze medals were in the women's 25m team pistol (Thu Vinh, Nguyen Thuy Dung, Nguyen Thuy Trang), the men's 25m individual rapid fire pistol and the men's 25m individual revolver (Ha Minh Thanh).

Pham Quang Huy is the most successful Vietnamese shooter, winning 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. Ha Minh Thanh has 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals. Meanwhile, Vietnam's number one female pistol shooter Trinh Thu Vinh won 1 gold medal and 2 bronze medals.

The 2025 Asian Shooting Cup will be held in Thailand from February 9 to 22, with rifles and pistols. More than 280 top shooters from 24 countries and territories will compete in seven men's, five women's, two mixed and six junior events. However, the tournament will be without shooters from two powerhouses, China and India.

Vietnam participated with 18 athletes, including Trinh Thu Vinh, Pham Quang Huy, Ha Minh Thanh, Lai Cong Minh, Le Thi Mong Tuyen, Nguyen Dinh Thanh, Nguyen Thanh Nam, Nguyen Thi Thao, Nguyen Thuy Trang, Nguyen Phan Hien Khanh, Nguyen Tam Quang, Nguyen Thuy Dung, Phan Cong Minh, Phi Thanh Thao, Tran An Tin, Tran Cong Hieu, Trieu Thi Hoa Hong and Vu Tien Nam.

This is one of four important international tournaments for Vietnamese shooting in 2025. After that, the shooters will participate in the Asian Championship in Kazakhstan (August), the World Championship in Egypt (November) and the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand (December).
