Condé Nast Traveler has just announced a series of lists of must-visit destinations around the world in 2024, in which Da Nang is the only representative of Vietnam in the top 11 best "must-visit" places in Asia.
In November 2023, the world's leading travel magazine Condé Nast Traveller announced a series of lists of the best destinations around the world to visit in 2024. In the Asian list, Da Nang is the only representative of Vietnam to make the top, along with famous destinations such as Chinatown in Bangkok (Thailand), Kathmandu Valley (Nepal), Silk Road in Uzbekistan, Singapore, Mongolia, Sri Lanka...
To make it onto this list, Da Nang has passed many strict criteria from the Condé Nast Traveler editorial team, especially the destination's mark in 2024.
“After a gradual lifting of travel restrictions and border closures due to the pandemic, Asia is back welcoming tourists, brighter, bolder and more ambitious than ever. The continent is eager to remind international visitors of what they may have missed,” the US magazine commented, and rated Da Nang as “one of Asia’s most successful examples of post-COVID-19 tourism recovery.”
In the first 9 months of 2023, Da Nang welcomed more than 1.6 million international visitors, exceeding the target set at the beginning of the year of 1.5 million. Many international flights have reopened from Da Nang airport, contributing to bringing more tourists to the city.
Son Tra Peninsula, 20 minutes from the city center, is also a tourist attraction, home to the 17-story, 67-meter-tall Lady Buddha Statue as well as the endangered red-shanked douc langur that lives in the nature reserve. Central Vietnamese specialties such as Mi Quang are a unique culinary feature on a journey of discovery here. Hotel and resort developers have also taken notice of Da Nang's recent popularity.
Participants in the destination vote are travel experts from around the world. In addition to providing information about the destination, the experts must give convincing reasons why they should visit this place.
Asia took longer than other places to lift COVID-19 restrictions, but the tourism industry is expected to recover strongly and positively.
