The National Assembly Chairman has just signed and issued a Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units of 13 provinces and cities for the 2023-2025 period.
On October 8, Secretary General of the National Assembly Bui Van Cuong said that the National Assembly Chairman signed and issued a Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of administrative units of 13 provinces and cities for the 2023-2025 period.
Specifically, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued a Resolution on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units for the 2023-2025 period of 13 provinces and cities: Bac Giang, Can Tho, Dak Lak, Dong Nai, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, Lao Cai, Ninh Thuan, Phu Yen, Quang Ninh, Thai Binh, Tien Giang and Vinh Long.
Of these 13 localities, Bac Giang is the province with the largest number of administrative units to be reorganized. Therefore, to have more time to prepare, the resolution of Bac Giang province will take effect from January 1, 2025, 2 months later than the other 12 provinces and cities (effective from November 1, 2024).
According to the resolution, the entire natural area and population of Yen Dung district will be merged into Bac Giang city. After the merger, Bac Giang city has a natural area of 258.29 km2 and a population of 371,151 people.
Along with that, Tan An ward was also established on the basis of merging the entire Lao Ho commune and Tan An town; Nham Bien ward was established on the basis of the entire area and population size of Nham Bien town...
The resolution also allows adjusting part of the natural area (75.93 km2) of Son Dong district to merge into Luc Ngan district.
Bac Giang also established Chu town on the basis of natural area and population size of 10 commune-level administrative units of Luc Ngan district, and at the same time established 5 wards of this town.
The Resolution also stipulates the dissolution of the People's Court and the People's Procuracy of Yen Dung district, Bac Giang province. At the same time, the People's Court and the People's Procuracy of Chu town, Bac Giang province are established.
In Quang Ninh, the National Assembly Standing Committee also issued a Resolution to establish Dong Trieu city based on the entire natural area and population of Dong Trieu town. This Resolution takes effect from November 1, 2024.
In Can Tho, the entire natural area and population of An Phu Ward, An Nghiep Ward, and An Cu Ward will be merged into Thoi Binh Ward. After the merger, Thoi Binh Ward will have a natural area of 1.99 km2 and a population of 56,364 people.
According to the previous report of the Ministry of Home Affairs, in 13 provinces and cities, there are 5 district-level administrative units and 186 commune-level units that are being arranged to form 5 new district-level administrative units and 99 new commune-level units.
After the arrangement, these 13 provinces and cities did not change the number of district levels and reduced 87 commune levels.
