According to new regulations, from January 1, 2025, commune police will be allowed to participate in patrolling and checking to ensure traffic safety related to their area.
On December 20, the Ministry of Public Security announced that Circular 73 regulating the patrol, control, and handling of violations of laws on road traffic order and safety by traffic police will take effect from January 1, 2025.
According to regulations, commune police are only allowed to patrol, control, and handle violations on commune and village roads under their management.
When detecting drivers of motorbikes, mopeds, and rudimentary vehicles committing violations of the law such as: Not wearing helmets; carrying more people than the prescribed number; carrying bulky goods, exceeding the size limit; Stopping or parking the vehicle in violation of regulations; weaving, swerving, driving on one wheel for two-wheeled vehicles; Not having a rearview mirror on the left; using an umbrella; pulling or pushing another vehicle or object; Not being of legal age to operate a vehicle or detecting a vehicle that seriously violates road traffic order and safety, security, and social order, if not promptly prevented, will cause dangerous consequences for society, then it will be handled according to the provisions of law. In the process of resolving and handling the above violations, if other violations are detected, they will be handled according to the authority, if exceeding the sanctioning authority, a record of administrative violations will be drawn up and reported to the competent authority to issue a decision on administrative sanctions.
Other forces in the people's police when performing the task of patrolling and controlling road traffic order and safety are equipped with: whistles, loudspeakers, traffic batons, vehicles, professional technical equipment, weapons, other support tools according to regulations and forms for handling violations.
Other forces in the People's Public Security, during the time of participating in coordinating patrols and controlling road traffic order and safety, are entitled to allowances and benefits according to the provisions of law for forces participating in ensuring road traffic order and safety.
