A group specializing in manufacturing, storing, and illegally trading large quantities of military weapons on social networks has just been dismantled by Thanh Hoa Provincial Police.
On March 22, the Investigation Police Agency of Thanh Hoa Province Police initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Nguyen Tran Du (31 years old, residing in Ha Thai Commune, Ha Trung District, Thanh Hoa Province), Pham Van Son (41 years old, residing in Vinh Bao Town, Vinh Bao District, Hai Phong City), Huynh Van Qua (30 years old, residing in Dinh Binh Commune, Ca Mau City) and Nguyen Hai Au (41 years old, residing in Hoa Khanh Dong Commune, Duc Hoa District, Long An Province) for the crime of "illegally manufacturing, storing, and trading military weapons".
Previously, through the work of grasping the situation, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police discovered a large-scale inter-provincial military weapons trading ring.
The methods and tricks of this network are sophisticated. All purchases and transactions take place online, with virtual accounts and closed groups.
Thanh Hoa Provincial Police have identified a large-scale military weapons manufacturing, storage, and trading ring led by Nguyen Tran Du, who connected with a number of people in the South to buy weapons and then sell them to many criminals nationwide.
On March 21, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police caught Nguyen Tran Du in the act of illegally possessing military weapons; the police seized 4 pistols and 63 bullets of various types.
Next, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Investigation Agency arrested Pham Van Son, Huynh Van Qua and Nguyen Hai Au.
Searching the residences of the three suspects, the police seized 11 pistols, 1 homemade pen gun, 5 grenades, 8 homemade explosives, thousands of bullets, bullet heads, shell casings of various types of guns, gun manufacturing components; machinery, chemicals, and tools for manufacturing weapons.
At the police station, the defendants initially confessed that Nguyen Tran Du and Nguyen Hai Au were the ones who specialized in ordering guns, gun parts, and grenades from Huynh Van Qua, then improving and manufacturing them into military weapons to sell to criminals for profit.
After buying a gun from Huynh Van Qua through the social network Zalo, Nguyen Tran Du sold Pham Van Son 2 revolver pistols, 2 grenades and 50 bullets for 30 million VND.
Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Investigation Agency is continuing to investigate the case.
