Nghe An police have arrested the suspect who robbed the bank with a knife.

On the evening of February 3, Mr. Doan Tien Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Lo town, Nghe An confirmed that on the afternoon of the same day, Vinh City Police and professional units of Nghe An Provincial Police had arrested the suspect who committed the robbery at the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade of Vietnam - ViettinBank Cua Lo branch, Binh Minh transaction office, Thu Thuy ward, Cua Lo town.

The suspect's identity has not been released, but it was initially determined that the suspect resides in Nghi Lien commune, Vinh city.

Police are taking statements from suspects and expanding the case.

It is expected that on February 5, the People's Committee of Cua Lo town will organize a ceremony to reward individuals and groups of the project team.

At around 4:12 p.m. on February 1, a man wearing a helmet and mask, holding a knife in one hand and an object suspected to be an explosive in the other, entered the bank's transaction room and threatened that he had explosives and told everyone to stand still.

There were about 20 people in the bank at the time, including customers and employees.

The man then asked the staff to give him the money. After jumping over the counter to get the money, the man ran out of the transaction room and fled on a motorbike.

Discovering the incident, some people used motorbikes to chase but failed.

Upon receiving the report, the police arrived at the scene to investigate, cordon off the area and search for the suspect.

This is the second bank robbery in the past two months in Cua Lo town.
