Make Hai Duong greener

Planting trees not only protects the environment and biodiversity but is also an important economic sector, bringing huge benefits to our country in the present and future. Vietnam is one of the world's leading wood processing and exporting countries, exporting to over 140 countries and territories with a value of over 10 billion USD/year.

Hai Duong also actively responded to tree planting. The province currently has more than 11,000 hectares of forest and forestry land. Forest cover is stable at 5.3%. In 2023, the whole province planted 1,035,615 scattered trees, higher than in 2022; planted 250.51 hectares of forest after exploitation, planted an additional 43 hectares of forest. Exploited production forest reached 209.86 hectares with a total volume of more than 16,987m3 of wood. The total value of forestry production reached 40 billion VND.

The great and long-term benefits that trees bring are indisputable. At the launching ceremony of the Tree Planting Festival to forever remember Uncle Ho in the spring of Quy Mao 2023, comrade Tran Duc Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee emphasized the significance of tree planting and afforestation associated with green and sustainable economic development, reducing the impact of climate change and making Hai Duong's natural landscape more beautiful. This is also the message for Hai Duong to organize many emulation movements to protect and develop trees in the past year.

The launching ceremony of the Giap Thin 2024 Spring Tree Planting Festival in Hai Duong will be held in the first days of the new year to call on all people in the province to immediately start working and producing, avoiding the idea that January is a month of entertainment.

The launching of "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho" every spring has become a good tradition of the whole country as well as the province, being deployed regularly, continuously and widely, creating an increasingly practical and effective movement. Among them, there are many typical examples with good and creative ways of doing things.

In recent days, a number of units and businesses have donated trees to localities to plant on this occasion. In addition to continuing to green bare land and hills, Chi Linh City and Kinh Mon Town have focused on developing the forest economy, introducing many valuable tree varieties into production forests and aiming to plant forests to sell carbon credits in the near future to bring higher economic efficiency.

Planting trees and afforestation are given attention, but protecting crops is even more important.

Therefore, to prevent the situation where there are still rows of beautiful green trees burned to the ground, blackened, ancient trees unjustly cut down, newly planted trees withered; to plant trees and afforestation not only as a form, a movement, each citizen, each organization, association, agency, and enterprise in all localities need to raise awareness about planting, caring for, and protecting green trees and have appropriate behavior towards green trees.
