Mr. NHT in Dai Duc commune (Kim Thanh) posted on his personal Facebook to call for support for Kim Quang pagoda, Dai Duc commune to build a pagoda and raise an abandoned baby. In mid-April 2023, a person named Phuong Thao sent him a message via Facebook, introducing herself as working in Japan, expressing her desire to support the baby with 1 million VND, asking him to provide a bank account number to transfer money. Mr. NHT provided his personal account number and bank name. Immediately after, this person sent a screenshot of the message that the money had been successfully transferred to Mr. T. After waiting for a long time without seeing the account receive the money, Mr. T. texted a person named Phuong Thao and was informed that the money transfer transaction was suspended and asked him to access the link in the message to check the transaction. After Mr. T. accessed the link, he continued to be asked to provide his bank account number, username, password, OTP, etc.
Suspecting that he was being tricked into stealing information to take control of his bank account, Mr. T. transferred all the money in his bank account to another bank account and contacted Phuong Thao's Facebook account again, but the account had been deleted.
