The continuous increase in gold prices in recent times has also caused people's demand for gold to increase sharply. However, along with that is the appearance of many forms of fraud, especially on online platforms, many people have bought fake gold and lost money.
According to the reporter's investigation, it is currently difficult to buy gold from major brands due to the sudden increase in demand. Taking advantage of this situation, many people have advertised gold for sale online, attracting buyers with prices that are several tens to several hundred thousand VND/tael of gold cheaper than the market price.
Recently, a customer in Bac Ninh bought a round, smooth gold ring on a Facebook group, which was introduced as a Thang Long Gold Dragon ring from Bao Tin Minh Chau. However, when the customer brought it to the gold shop to check, he discovered that it was fake gold, the packaging was fake, the label was copied... When contacted again, the seller immediately denied responsibility.
Not only causing economic damage to consumers, these counterfeit acts also seriously affect the reputation of large, reputable brands such as Bao Tin Minh Chau, PNJ, Doji. Many subjects also set up fake pages on Facebook, illegally using logos, store images, and products to scam customers. Some pages also have similar or reversed names to cause confusion.
In particular, on the "black market", there is a form of buying and selling at a ratio of 50/50, which means taking the average price between buying and selling of large enterprises to trade. For example, if the listed price of gold at the store is 89-91 million VND/tael, the online seller will advertise the price at 90 million VND, helping both the seller and the buyer to benefit more than trading at the store. However, this form also carries many risks regarding the quality of gold.
Not only online, but also at large gold shops, illegal gold trading is also common. Some individuals stand right in front of the shop, inviting customers to buy and sell gold at a difference in price to make a profit. However, these transactions pose a risk of being swapped for fake gold, adulterated gold, and gold without any guarantee documents.
Faced with this situation, authorities recommend that people only trade gold at official establishments with guaranteed documents. When detecting signs of fraud, customers should quickly report to the police or contact the business directly for verification.
To ensure customer rights, Bao Tin Minh Chau Company representative recommends that customers and people should transact at reputable stores, or transact directly at the company's business establishments or on Bao Tin Minh Chau's official platforms (green tick) to ensure their rights.
