Hanoi City Police recorded a case of a woman who transferred 50 million VND to perform a task, receiving money and gifts when seeing an advertisement on Facebook giving gifts to customers on October 20. This is a trick used by many scammers when important events or holidays are approaching.

The trick of giving gifts of gratitude has been used by criminals in the past, in many ways: calling, sending messages via chat, email, or advertising on social networks.

Accordingly, the gifts are often announced to be of high value, however, the victim will have to provide a lot of personal information, including bank account number, password... to receive the task. After the victim does as instructed, the subjects also put pressure on time, requiring the victim to do it immediately or else they will lose the reward.

"Gratitude gift" programs are often impersonated as coming from e-commerce platforms, famous supermarket chains, or famous brands. Then, the subjects approach and instruct the victims to perform certain tasks and transfer a certain amount of money.

Therefore, to avoid being scammed, first of all, users should not believe and follow attractive gift offers, not provide personal information to strangers, and not access strange links or links sent by subjects.

On the Cyber Portal at https://khonggianmang.vn, there are regular warnings about fraud, to help users improve their knowledge of information security and proactively prevent online fraud. In case of suspicion of being scammed, people need to immediately report to the authorities or consumer protection organizations for timely support, resolution and prevention.
