Vietnamese women's football maintains No. 1 position in Southeast Asia

The Vietnamese women's football team remains ranked 37th in the world, 6th in Asia and continues to maintain its leading position in Southeast Asia.

On December 16, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) informed that FIFA has announced the fourth quarter 2024 rankings for women's football teams around the world.

Accordingly, the Vietnamese women's team still holds the 37th position in the world, 6th in Asia with 1,614.43 points and continues to maintain the leading position in Southeast Asia.

Since the previous announcement in August 2024, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team have had 2 matches at the Yong Chuan International Women's Football Friendly Tournament held in Chongqing, China.

In this tournament, the Vietnamese women's team won the Uzbekistan women's team 2-0 and lost to the Chinese women's team 0-2, so the rankings did not change.

On the rankings, in the Southeast Asian region, after the Vietnamese team are the Philippines (ranked 41st), Thailand (ranked 45th), and Myanmar (ranked 55th).

Notably, Indonesia has returned to the top 100 after rising 7 places to 94th. This team won the highest position at the 2024 ASEAN Women's Cup (2024 ASEAN Women's Cup Qualifiers) so it has been awarded many points in the rankings.

In the world, the US women's team still leads with 2,087.55 points. Followed by Spain, Germany, England, and Sweden.

In Asia, the leading teams are Japan (1,974,34, 8th place); North Korea (9th place in the world, up 1 place compared to the previous ranking); Australia (15th place in the world, down 3 places in the world ranking); China (17th place in the world) and South Korea (20th place in the world) both up 1 place compared to their previous rankings.
