According to the announced list, two players who will not continue to accompany the Vietnamese women's team at this congress are striker Vu Thi Hoa and defender Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh.

According to the announcement from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), striker Vu Thi Hoa has suffered a minor ankle injury and will need about 2 weeks to fully recover. To strengthen the attack, coach Mai Duc Chung has called up striker Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan from Ho Chi Minh City Club since September 12.

For Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh, this is the first time the defender born in 2001 has been called up to the national team. Training with her seniors on the team will be a useful experience for young players to learn and draw lessons for themselves, aiming for future goals.

According to the plan, the Vietnamese women's team will depart for Wenzhou, China at 11:45 a.m. on September 19. Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team's flight will connect in Guangzhou before landing at 6:55 p.m. the same day at Wenzhou city airport.

At ASIAD 2023, the Vietnamese women's football team is in Group D, along with Nepal, Bangladesh and Japan.

According to the schedule, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will play their opening match against the Nepalese women's team on the afternoon of September 22. Next, the "Diamond Girls" will face the Bangladeshi women's team on September 25. In the final match of Group D, the team will face the defending champion Japan.

Women's football at the 2023 ASIAD will feature 16 teams, divided into five groups, including two groups of four teams, two groups of three teams and one group of two teams (Cambodia withdrew). At the end of the group stage, the five group winners and the three best second-placed teams will advance to the quarter-finals.
