The Politburo assigned and appointed Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh, Secretary of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee, to hold the position of Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
On the afternoon of November 2, the Standing Committee of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee held a conference to announce the Politburo's decision on personnel work.
At the conference, Mr. Hoang Dang Quang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, announced the Politburo's decision on Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh ceasing to participate in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee and ceasing to hold the position of Secretary of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
At the same time, the Politburo mobilized, assigned and appointed Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh was born in 1969, his hometown is Yen Lac district, Vinh Phuc province. He graduated from Banking University and has a PhD in economics.
Since January 2012, Mr. Thanh was appointed Deputy General Director of the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank). In June 2012, he held the position of Chief of Office of the State Bank.
In July 2013, Mr. Thanh was appointed General Director of the Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank). In November 2014, he was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietcombank for the 2013-2018 term.
In April 2018, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh was re-elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietcombank for the 2018-2023 term. At the 13th National Party Congress, Mr. Thanh was elected as a member of the Party Central Committee.
In July 2021, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh was transferred and appointed to hold the position of Secretary of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee.
Previously, Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hai Ninh, member of the Party Central Committee, was approved by the 15th National Assembly to be appointed as Minister of Justice on August 26, 2024, at the 8th Extraordinary Session.
