Fined for cropping images of National Assembly delegates to increase interaction

A 41-year-old man in Vinh City, Nghe An Province was fined VND7.5 million for posting a TikTok image of a National Assembly delegate with fake content about his salary that he compiled himself.

On March 28, the Internal Political Security Department (Nghe An Provincial Police) announced that it had fined a man doing business in Vinh City for providing and sharing fake, untrue, distorted, slanderous information, and insulting the reputation of agencies, organizations, and individuals, according to Article 101, Decree 15/2020/ND-CP.

Previously, in mid-March, this person posted on TikTok an image of National Assembly delegate Truong Trong Nghia, the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Ho Chi Minh City, with content mentioning "injustice in salary payment for different professions". The post attracted more than 11,000 likes and nearly 4,000 comments.

At the police station, the owner of the TikTok account "PTC", Mr. HTB (41 years old, residing in Vinh City, Nghe An Province), stated that after listening to news, he saw the image of National Assembly delegate Truong Trong Nghia at the National Assembly, so he took the image of this delegate, edited the content himself and inserted it, making readers believe that this was the statement of this delegate and posted it on social networks.

Mr. B. said that this is to create forums and debates on social networks to increase interaction for personal accounts and serve sales.

The internal political security department fined Mr. B. 7.5 million VND for providing fake, untrue, distorted, slanderous information, and insulting the reputation of the organization and personal honor.
