The Government Committee for Religious Affairs requested an investigation into the statements of Venerable Thich Chan Quang.

On the afternoon of June 7, information from the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (Ministry of Home Affairs) said that this agency has sent a document requesting the Committee for Religious Affairs under the Department of Home Affairs of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to work with the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of the province to investigate, review, and verify the statements and sermons of Venerable Thich Chan Quang that are being reflected by public opinion.

According to information from Giac Ngo Newspaper, statements in some clips circulating on social networks by Venerable Thich Chan Quang are said to be inconsistent with the teachings, canon laws, cultural traditions of Buddhism and the history of the Vietnamese people; and to amend the prohibitions in the Buddhist Triple Gem refuge certificate.

It is known that the Government Committee for Religious Affairs proposed to review, investigate and verify, and in case of any violations, to strictly handle them.

Previously, Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien, Vice President and General Secretary of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, also informed: "Regarding the statements of Most Venerable Thich Chan Quang in some clips that public opinion has reflected, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has assigned the Central Propagation Committee and Office II to organize a working session on April 19 to review and correct the content that appeals to the law of cause and effect in Buddhist teachings, causing confusion in society."

Also related to the reflections on offensive preaching, on June 6, 2024, the Central Office II of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha issued a notice on disciplinary measures against Venerable Thich Nhuan Duc (Ho Phap Pagoda, Phu My Commune, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province) for making statements and preaching that undermined the society's trust in Buddhism and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

The Church strictly forbade Venerable Thich Nhuan Duc from preaching in any form, and had to repent separately at Ho Phap Temple, and at the same time repent to the monks and the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

The Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha assigned the Legal Committee, the Control Committee and the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to supervise the disciplinary action against Venerable Thich Nhuan Duc for one year.

After 1 year, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province reported on the morality, practice of dignity, and precepts of Venerable Thich Nhuan Duc.
