"Buddha's hair relics" are on display at Ba Vang Pagoda from December 23 to December 27.

The document signed by Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien, Vice President - General Secretary of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, stated that currently, on mass media, websites and social media, there are many negative comments about Ba Vang Pagoda's promotion on the pagoda's information page and the organization of the "Buddha's Hair Relics" ceremony.

The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Council requests Venerable Thich Truc Thai Minh, Abbot of Ba Vang Pagoda, to urgently send a report explaining the origin of the “Buddha’s hair relics” and the organization of the above event. Ba Vang Pagoda and the Venerable Abbot must immediately remove all introductions about “Buddha’s hair relics at Ba Vang Pagoda” on the pagoda’s information pages, those of Venerable Thich Truc Thai Minh, as well as social networking pages related to the above incident.

This document was also sent to the Most Venerable President, Permanent Vice President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, the Department of Internal Security of the Ministry of Public Security (A02), and the Executive Board of the Buddhist Sangha of Quang Ninh province.

According to the reporter's observation, currently, the content related to "Buddha's hair relic" has been removed from Ba Vang Pagoda's Facebook page. However, on the pagoda's website, the homepage still has the information "The hair (hair relic) of Buddha was handed down more than 2600 years ago: Present at Ba Vang Pagoda" with the introduction "it is one of the eight hairs that Buddha personally plucked from his head", next to the pagoda's report on the incident.

On the afternoon of December 29, Ms. Tran Thi Minh Nga, Deputy Head of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (Ministry of Home Affairs) said that immediately after receiving the information, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs advised the Ministry of Home Affairs to issue a document requesting the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province to direct local authorities to inspect and verify the incident. The document also requested clarification of the implementation of legal regulations on religious activities with foreign elements in Vietnam and the organization of the exhibition for Buddhists and people to worship "Buddha's hair relics" at Ba Vang Pagoda by the abbot; to rectify and strictly handle according to the provisions of the law and according to authority if there are violations.

The Government Committee for Religious Affairs has discussed and sent a document to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha requesting an assessment of the origin of the "Buddha's hair relics" displayed at Ba Vang Pagoda in recent days to have official information about the incident; requesting the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to direct the International Buddhist Committee and the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Quang Ninh province to rectify activities that are not in accordance with tradition; and strictly handle violations according to Buddhist precepts, the Charter, and Regulations of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

In the report sent to the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and the Quang Ninh Provincial Religious Committee on December 29, the Abbot of Ba Vang Pagoda said that on the evening of December 27, after concluding their tour of Vietnam, the Myanmar monks brought the "Buddha's hair relics" back to Parami Monastery.
