The Ministry of Transport has just issued a document to the Ministry of Public Security, People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities and the Vietnam Road Administration to review and handle existing problems and shortcomings in road traffic organization.

On February 25, the Ministry of Transport issued Document No. 1953/BGTVT-KCHT on reviewing and handling existing problems and shortcomings in road traffic organization to the Ministry of Public Security, People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities and the Vietnam Road Administration.

The document was issued to implement the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha in Document No. 1364/VPCP-CN dated February 19, 2025 of the Government Office on reviewing and handling existing problems and inadequacies in the organization of road traffic.

Accordingly, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Transport to preside over, together with the Ministry of Public Security and the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities, a comprehensive review and resolution of inadequacies in the system of traffic signs, traffic lights, licensing, arrangement of stops, parking lots, vehicle guards, etc. causing traffic conflicts; and report the results to the Prime Minister before March 15, 2025.

The review includes: reviewing the management, exploitation, and handling of shortcomings with the traffic light system on managed roads; reviewing the road signaling system on roads assigned for management; and reviewing vehicle parking lots on roads assigned for management.

In the document, the Ministry of Transport requested the Ministry of Public Security to direct the Traffic Police Department, the police of provinces and centrally-run cities, according to their scope of responsibility, to coordinate with road management agencies (Vietnam Road Administration, transport departments and road management areas) to review and resolve shortcomings in the system of signs, traffic lights, licensing, and arrangement of stops, parking lots and vehicle storage on the road system.

The People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities shall direct the agencies assigned to manage the local road system to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies, units and functional forces to conduct a general review, on-site inspection, detect, recommend, propose to handle or immediately handle the above-mentioned shortcomings in the road system managed by the locality within their authority. The review results shall be sent to the Ministry of Transport (via the Vietnam Road Administration) before March 10, 2025.

The Vietnam Road Administration shall review, inspect the scene, detect, recommend, propose to handle or handle within its authority the above-mentioned shortcomings and inadequacies in the national highway system and expressways under its management. Summarize the overall results and report to the Ministry of Transport before March 13, 2025.
