A fight and slashing of people just because of debt collection of nearly 2 million VND in Tu Minh ward and the high price to pay

Because of the debt of 1.75 million dong

In April 2023, Nguyen Huu Tu (born in 1991, in Tu Minh ward, Hai Duong city) lent 1.75 million VND to Mr. VVS in the same ward. In early May 2023, when Tu asked for the money, Mr. S. promised to pay it back in the evening. At around 8:00 p.m., Tu called Do Xuan Truong (born in 2005, in Tu Minh ward) to meet Mr. S. to get the money. When they met, Mr. S. told Truong to delay the payment for 1-2 days. After Truong called to inform him of the incident, Tu rode his motorbike to talk to Mr. S. and a conflict arose.

Tu rushed in to beat Mr. S. but was stopped by the people around. At this time, Tu pushed Mr. D., a neighbor, to the ground, leading to an argument and a fight with both Mr. D. and his son. Bui Quang Khai rode a motorbike carrying Do Van Dung and Tran Tuan Anh (all three were born in 2004, in Tu Minh ward) to watch.

When he saw Mr. N. (Mr. D.'s son) holding a machete and coming out to argue with Tu, Tu told Truong "go get something for me", told Dung to go put Tu's motorbike away and get "something" for Tu. After that, Truong took a sword and 2 knives; Dung took a knife and went to Tu. Seeing Truong carrying a sword, Tu ran to take the sword from Truong's hand and then pulled the sword out and walked towards Mr. D's house. Truong, Dung, and Tuan Anh followed behind.

Seeing Tu holding a sword and cursing, Mr. D. called his brother-in-law, Mr. P., to come out. Mr. P. came out to stop him and told Tu to go home. Tuan Anh took his helmet and threw it at Mr. P., then together with Dung, rushed in to beat Mr. P. Tu ran over and used his sword to slash him once in the head and stabbed him once in the left arm, causing Mr. P. to collapse.

Seeing Mr. P. being slashed by Tu, Mr. D. took an iron pipe and hit Tu's group many times to prevent Tu from slashing Mr. P., one of which hit Tu's sword-holding hand, causing the sword to fall to the street. Another hit his hand, and Tuan Anh turned around and kicked Mr. D., causing Mr. D. to fall to the street. Tu picked up the sword and ran to slash, but Mr. D. raised the iron pipe to block it, causing the sword to slash his right finger.

Tu continued to slash his leg, Mr. D. threw away the iron pipe and ran into the house. Seeing that, Mr. N. (Mr. D.'s son) inside the house brought an iron bar and ran out to stop him from hitting Tu, but was stopped by some other people. At this time, Mr. P. picked up the iron pipe (left behind by Mr. D.) and hit Truong's leg, causing him to fall onto the street, dropping the knife in his pocket. Truong picked up the knife and was hit by Mr. P. again, hitting the hand holding the knife, causing the knife to fall onto the street. Truong grabbed the iron pipe from Mr. P.'s hand, but everyone tried to stop him, so Truong left.

Tu took the sword home, Khai, Tuan Anh, Dung followed Tu, and Truong went home. When Tu arrived at his house gate, Mr. N., Mr. D.'s nephew, knew that Mr. P. and Mr. D. had been slashed by Tu, so he came. Mr. N. cursed and picked up a brick to throw at Tu but missed. Tu chased after him with a sword, slashing Mr. N. once. When everyone tried to stop him, Tu took the sword and ran away. On the way, Tu threw away the sword. Mr. P., D. and Mr. N. were taken to Hai Duong Provincial General Hospital to treat their injuries.

Sentence

As a result of the fight, Mr. P. and Mr. N. were both injured with a body injury rate of 46%; Mr. D. suffered 20% body injury. The actions of the subjects using weapons and fighting each other disturbed security and order in Tu Minh ward.

In this case, Tu was the mastermind and leader. Truong, Dung, Tuan Anh and Khai acted as accomplices. Tu independently committed the act of injuring Mr. N. This is a dangerous act for society, harming the health of others and harming social order and safety.

Regarding the behavior of Mr. D., Mr. N., Mr. P. The fight, self-defense, and resistance were all used by Tu's group to attack them with weapons, violating Decree 144/2021/ND-CP dated December 31, 20221 of the Government. Hai Duong Provincial Police have issued a decision to administratively sanction these people.

On June 6, the Provincial People's Court held a first-instance trial and sentenced Nguyen Huu Tu to 8 years in prison for murder, 6 years and 6 months in prison for intentionally causing injury, 2 years and 9 months in prison for disturbing public order, with a total sentence of 17 years and 3 months in prison. Do Van Dung and Tran Tuan Anh were each sentenced to 5 years in prison for intentionally causing injury, 2 years in prison for disturbing public order, with a total sentence of 7 years in prison. Do Xuan Truong was sentenced to 6 years in prison for intentionally causing injury, 2 years and 6 months in prison for disturbing public order, with a total sentence of 8 years and 6 months in prison. Bui Quang Khai was sentenced to 1 year in prison for disturbing public order.

The above incident is a wake-up call for those who are hooligans, disregard the health and lives of others, and use violence to resolve conflicts in life.
