Trial of major drug trafficking case in Gia Loc

Nguyen Van Nghia was sentenced to 13 months in prison for illegal possession of drugs.

According to the indictment, Pham Manh Thang (born in 1977, residing in Cam Che commune, Thanh Ha) and the couple V. D. T. (born in 1973, deceased), Phung Thi Soan (born in 1976, residing in Doan Thuong commune, Gia Loc) had discussed and agreed in advance on the illegal purchase and sale of drugs. From May 26 to August 22, 2022, Thang sold more than 11 heroin trees to the couple 4 times at a price of 33 - 34 million VND/tree, and paid 266 million VND. The first time the transaction, Thang directly brought it to T's house. From the second time onwards, Thang hired Nguyen Duc Trung (born in 1991, residing in Tan Viet commune, Thanh Ha) to transport drugs from Thang's house to T's house for a fee of 800,000 VND/time. After buying the above drugs, T. divided them into small packages to sell for profit.

At 5:48 a.m. on August 23, 2022, on Road 191C in Cat Hau Hamlet, Hong Hung Commune (Gia Loc), Nguyen Van Nghia (born in 1981, residing in Dai Son Commune, Tu Ky) illegally concealed 0.335 g of heroin for use and was caught red-handed by the Investigation Police Agency of Gia Loc District Police. Nghia stated that he bought the above drugs from T. for 600,000 VND.

Representative of Hai Duong Provincial People's Procuracy presented the indictment against 4 defendants.

On the same day, the Investigation Police Agency issued an emergency detention order for T. and searched T.'s residence, seizing 94.275 grams of heroin and 24.516 grams of methamphetamine. T. confessed that he and his wife bought the above drugs from Thang.

In addition, around July 2022, T. also bought 60 methamphetamine pills in Hai Duong City for 2.4 million VND (the seller's identity was not identified) and 200 methamphetamine pills from Thang for 6 million VND to sell and use for himself.

In this case, T. was the mastermind and died of illness before being tried. The People's Court of Hai Duong province decided to suspend the case against T.

Defendant Thang was imprisoned twice for disturbing public order and murder, and was administratively punished once for property destruction. Soan was imprisoned once for prostitution. Nghia was imprisoned twice for extortion and robbery, and was administratively punished twice for illegal possession of drugs and gambling.
