The new 2024 Porsche Panamera luxury car has been upgraded with the Active Ride active air suspension system, allowing it to dance to gestures on your smartphone like a real dancer.
On the 2024 Porsche Panamera, the Active Ride active air suspension system has been further improved with the main purpose of helping the car easily overcome all complex terrains such as steep slopes, inclines... and can be controlled synchronously by the tilt of the smartphone.
Porsche engineers demonstrated this capability during the presentation using a smartphone app that syncs with the Panamera, allowing the user to control the car to perform up and down movements, even dancing like a dancer.
In the improved Active Ride active air suspension system, Porsche has equipped each wheel with a pump using a 400V electric motor that operates independently. By adjusting the amount of hydraulic pressure entering the damper, the pumps combined with the air suspension system can help each wheel increase/decrease in height with an amplitude of about 55mm and perform 13 oscillations per second.
Porsche Active Ride has a mechanism that is similar to Mercedes-Benz's E-Active Body Control system, which was introduced with the GLE SUV about 6 years ago. However, Porsche's Active Ride system, in addition to "jumping" when the car is stationary, can also help the car tilt to one side or lift the front/rear of the car separately to easily go on inclined, steep roads without fear of flipping over.
Currently, Porsche Active Ride is only available on the 2024 Panamera Hybrid, and the German automaker has not officially announced whether it will offer this “dancing” feature on other versions. However, according to Carscoops, Porsche is working on adding its Active Ride system to many other models, including the Taycan electric car.
