Interaction between Android and Windows PC becomes as simple as connecting a USB drive

This makes the process of interacting and moving files between Windows 11 and Android devices much simpler and more intuitive. However, this is still an experimental feature only available to Insider program participants.

With the integration inFile ExplorerWindows 11, the Android device will look like a regular USB drive. Users can interactively drag and drop files, or rename or delete them. This will be much faster than using the current Phone Link intermediary application.

To experience this feature, users need a device running Android 11 or later, registered as a Windows Insider, and pre-installed with the beta version of the Link to Windows app.

Users can enable this File Explorer feature by navigating toSettings > Bluetooth & Devices > Mobile Devicesand select the sectionManage Devicesto allow your computer to connect to your Android phone. The prompt will include a toggle for access in File Explorer, along with options for notifications and camera access.

This integration will be most useful for people who regularly work with Windows 11 and Android. All of the processing will be done wirelessly, meaning both will need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

In addition, the Windows manufacturer has also just adjusted the move to "force" Windows 10 users to upgrade to a newer operating system.

The company initially targeted Windows 10 Pro and Pro Workstation PCs with ads that offered a “free upgrade to the latest Windows 11.” However, after negative user feedback, the software giant changed course. “Out of respect for your feedback, these changes will be removed with monthly updates,” Microsoft said in a statement.
