It took Microsoft months to release an update that fixed one of the most annoying bugs Windows 11 has ever encountered.
Installing the latest Windows 11 update is an adventure because in some cases it will cause more problems for users. That is why many people are advised to delay installing Windows 11 updates if possible until the user community first tests that nothing happens.
One of the bugs that caused headaches for consumers was a Windows 11 update a few months ago. It involved slowing down the speed of SSDs on some laptops running the operating system. Specifically, the bug appeared in the Moment 2 update released in March last year and was not addressed until the latest update in August.
According to the latest Windows report, this issue seems to have been fixed with the latest Windows 11 update. It is cumulative update KB5029263, but strangely, it does not mention anything about a solution to this SSD slowdown, only stating that “This update makes various security improvements to the internal functionality of the operating system.”
But after the update, some users are now facing an error with Microsoft Defender that prevents Microsoft's protection application from starting. Basically, one problem is removed but another problem appears.
On the other hand, Microsoft is testing the possibility of giving users the option to uninstall some of the default apps in Windows 11. In Build 25931, currently available in the Canary channel, both the Photos and People apps, as well as the remote desktop client can now be uninstalled, in addition to the Camera app.
This is also directly related to the Cortana app - which Microsoft has allowed to be manually uninstalled, marking the end of the company's involvement with the virtual assistant.
