Mr. Andrew Goledzinowski - Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, highly appreciated the Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship program.
Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Andrew Goledzinowski also commented, “The Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship has created opportunities for talented and ambitious young Vietnamese intellectuals. We are particularly impressed that the students receiving the Scholarship do not necessarily have to work at Vingroup. The vision and methodical investment strategy of Vingroup has been contributing to creating positive changes for the future of Vietnam's science and technology sectors.”
The program "Science and Technology Scholarship for Master's and Doctoral Degrees Studying Abroad" was established by Vingroup Corporation in 2019 with the goal of finding Vietnamese talents to nurture and develop into talented people capable of leading the development of Vietnam's science and technology in the future.
After nearly 5 years of implementation, the program has had 50 students complete their master's degrees. Of these, 20 people continued to study for a doctorate with external scholarships; 10 people are working at large companies and corporations such as JP Morgan Chase, Global Energies... to gain practical experience before returning to Vietnam. The remaining people have completed the program and returned to the country, taking on positions as lecturers and researchers at major universities and research institutes in the country, or becoming experts and engineers at enterprises in Vietnam.
In addition, the Program has established the Vingroup Global Young Scholars Network with nearly 180 talented members receiving scholarships, creating a community of young intellectuals together to conquer academic challenges, making efforts to contribute to science beyond national boundaries and reaching global levels.
Notably, three PhD students Hoang Trung Thien, Thai Mai Thanh and Nguyen Chi Cong in the Vingroup Global Young Scholars Network, who are studying at the University of New South Wales, Australia, have had more than 30 works published in prestigious journals such as Advanced Science, Soft Robotics, Advanced Intelligent Systems, ICRA, Robosoft, etc. The PhD students also submitted three patents, two of which have been selected for commercialization in the Australian national round and the international round in 2023.
Professor Nigel Hamilton Lovell - who directly guided the three Vietnamese PhD students affirmed: "This is a very important step in commercializing their scientific ideas and affirming the impact of their research on society."
The program “Science and Technology Scholarships for Masters and PhDs to Study Abroad” is one of many annual community activities of Vingroup Corporation, in the field of “Social Volunteers” - one of the three development pillars: Industry - Technology, Trade - Services and Social Volunteers of the Group. In parallel with the program “Science and Technology Scholarships for Masters and PhDs to Study Abroad”, Vingroup is still implementing programs such as the Domestic Masters and PhD Scholarship Program, Cooperation in Master of Data Science Training; Domestic Postdoctoral Scholarship of VinIF Foundation; VinBigdata AI Engineer Training Program ... to contribute to the sustainable development of science and technology in Vietnam.
