All three Vietnamese students competing in the 2023 International Biology Olympiad (IBO) won prizes, including one silver medal and two bronze medals.
The silver medal winner was Nguyen Tien Loc, an 11th grader from the High School for Gifted Students of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The two bronze medal winners were Vu The Anh (12th grader from Vinh Phuc) and Tran Pham Manh (12th grader from Natural Sciences).
This achievement is similar to last year, when Vietnam participated with four students and won one silver and three bronze.

The 2023 International Biology Olympiad (IBO 2023) will be held in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates (UAE) from July 3 to 11. 80 countries and territories will participate in the competition with 295 contestants.
In addition to the two theoretical exams, candidates took four practical exams (Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Plant Molecular Biology, Ecology and Behavior) in one day. The exam was commented to be interesting, innovative but quite long and had a lot of knowledge that challenged students' thinking.
