Vietnam won 44 gold medals, leading the Southeast Asian School Sports Festival

Vietnam excellently led the whole delegation with a total of 44 gold medals at the 13th Southeast Asian School Sports Festival held in Da Nang City.

After 10 days of competition, the closing ceremony of the 13th ASEAN Schools Games (ASG) took place on the afternoon of June 7 at Tien Son Sports Palace (Hai Chau District, Da Nang City).

Taking place from May 29 to June 7, the Southeast Asian School Sports Festival has a total of 6 sports and 107 competitions, corresponding to 107 sets of medals, 704 medals of all kinds. Of which, swimming has 36 sets of medals, basketball has 2 sets of medals, badminton has 7 sets of medals, athletics has 36 sets of medals, Pencak Silat has 16 sets of medals and Vovinam has 10 sets of medals.

Vietnam excellently led the whole delegation with 44 gold medals, followed by Indonesia with 22 gold medals and Thailand with 18 gold medals in third place.

9 Games records were set, all of which were achievements in swimming from the Vietnamese student sports delegation.

At the closing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Kim Chi emphasized: “The Southeast Asian School Games gives us an opportunity to connect, build and create new friendships. We witnessed the spirit and tireless efforts of the student athletes.

You inspire us by pushing boundaries and achieving great things. Through sports, we can overcome differences and boundaries, and work together to build a strong and united Southeast Asian community.”

The Deputy Minister of Education and Training affirmed that the 13th Southeast Asian School Sports Festival was an exciting event with high professional quality. The sports delegations participating in the Games were deeply impressed by the hospitality and professionalism of the host country. The organization, logistics, communications, security and safety work were all ensured throughout the Games.

From modern infrastructure, comfortable accommodation services, enthusiastic support, along with the friendly atmosphere of Da Nang people, all created the success of the Congress and strengthened solidarity among ASEAN countries.

The Southeast Asian Student Sports Festival fully demonstrates the message "Connecting and Shining Together". It is not only a place to honor sports talents but also promotes the connection of students from countries in the region, uniting together for a young generation of Southeast Asian integration and development.

At the end of the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Kim Chi, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Games, and representatives of Da Nang City leaders performed the ceremony of handing over the flag of the Southeast Asian Student Sports Council to Brunei Darussalam - the host country of the 14th Southeast Asian Student Sports Games (2025).
