On October 24, the Vietnam Cardiology Association announced that it was assigned by the Southeast Asian Cardiology Federation to host the 27th Southeast Asian Cardiology Scientific Congress.

The event will take place from November 2-5 at the National Convention Center (Hanoi) with the theme: "Cardiovascular Intersection: Challenges and Opportunities."

The conference is expected to have more than 2,000 domestic and foreign delegates attending, including 300 leading cardiovascular experts as guest speakers from many advanced medical backgrounds in the world as well as the ASEAN region.

The Organizing Committee has developed a scientific conference program with more than 80 scientific sessions including 750 reports, taking place continuously at the same time in 10 halls. In addition to the regular scientific topics such as: Cardiovascular intervention, Echocardiography, Treatment of arrhythmias... this year there will be more scientific sessions with the participation of foreign experts such as the training session of SCAI (American Society of Cardiology for Intervention), sessions updating recommendations from ESC Congress (European Society of Cardiology)...

According to the Vietnam Cardiology Association, this is an important, international event of the country's cardiovascular profession, an opportunity for Vietnamese and regional doctors to exchange, update and supplement their knowledge and professional skills.

Cardiovascular disease has become the leading cause of death worldwide, claiming 19.5 million lives each year (according to the Global Burden of Disease 2022 report), accounting for about one-third of all deaths.

In Vietnam, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health, each year about 200,000 people die from cardiovascular disease, accounting for 33% of all deaths. In addition, the burden of disease and costs have also increased significantly.

In recent years, Vietnam's Cardiovascular sector has made significant progress, deeply integrated into the world, and applied many advanced techniques that can be compared to other countries in the region and the world. Currently, most cardiovascular diseases can be diagnosed and treated domestically in a timely and effective manner. Domestic cardiovascular patients have the opportunity to access scientific achievements in the field of advanced cardiology right on the spot without having to go abroad.

Vietnam's Cardiology industry joined the ASEAN cardiovascular community in 2004 and has since then made positive contributions to the common development of the region.
