A "female monster" has just been temporarily detained by the police for drawing up a "ghost" project to attract investors, defrauding 26 billion VND, using the money to build a villa and buy many expensive properties.
Defendant Pham Thi Nhuong drew up a "ghost" project to defraud tens of billions of dong.
On December 7, the Investigation Police Agency of Ha Nam Province Police said it was temporarily detaining suspect Pham Thi Nhuong (41 years old, living in Kien Khe town, Thanh Liem district) to investigate the act of "fraudulent appropriation of property".
According to the Criminal Police Department of Ha Nam Province Police, Nhuong's method was to use various tricks to "boast" of having close relationships with many people in several large corporations that were capable of investing in real estate projects with "huge" profits.
"Believing Nhuong's words, from October 2020 to November 2023, a number of people repeatedly transferred to Nhuong a total of over 26 billion VND to invest in ghost projects drawn up by Nhuong," the police agency said.
Initially, the Criminal Police Department of Ha Nam Province Police determined that Nhuong used the money he had stolen to build a villa and buy many expensive properties. Not stopping there, Nhuong continued to create a "luxurious" image, regularly posting these images on social networks to polish himself in order to continue the scam.
More sophisticatedly, Nhuong used many phone numbers and pretended to have a Central or Southern accent, pretending to be an employee of a real estate company to exchange information about the project, requesting early payment of investment money and taxes and fees to enjoy many incentives, in order to easily extort money from the victims.
