Artists make pilgrimage to the source "Through the Northwest - Returning to Dien Bien"

Speaking at the press conference, Associate Professor, Doctor, Musician Do Hong Quan, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, said that towards the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations presided over, together with the Central Specialized Literature and Arts Associations, the Literature and Arts Associations of 7 provinces and cities (including: Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Yen Bai) in coordination with the leaders of Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien provinces to organize a pilgrimage program to the source with the theme "Through the Northwest - Returning to Dien Bien". The program is for delegates who are artists of the above Literature and Arts Associations to participate.

According to the Organizing Committee, the program will take place from April 15 to 21, 2024 with about 70 participants. The delegation will depart from Hanoi, go through Hoa Binh and Son La provinces and gather in Dien Bien.

The pilgrimage to the source took place with many important activities. After the departure ceremony at the Union headquarters (66 Nguyen Van Huyen, Hanoi), the delegation of artists led by the leaders of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations will head to the Northwest. On the first day of the journey to the source, the delegation stopped in Hoa Binh province, held an incense offering ceremony at the Uncle Ho Statue at the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant; visited the Muong Ethnic Museum; met with provincial leaders and had cultural and artistic exchanges with the locality.

The second stop of the delegation is in Son La province. After meeting with provincial leaders, the delegation will visit Son La prison relic and exchange cultural performances with local artists.

The third stop is Dien Bien province - the most important destination in this pilgrimage to the source. Here, the delegation will visit the Muong Phang historical relic site - the headquarters of the Vietnamese Command during the Dien Bien Phu Campaign; offer incense at the Martyrs' Temple at the Dien Bien Phu battlefield; visit A1 Cemetery, Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum, De Castries bunker; and exchange cultural performances with local artists.

Within the framework of the program of returning to the source, the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations chaired the organization of the scientific conference “Dien Bien Phu - an epic poem, a great source of creative inspiration for literature and arts” with the participation of many artists. Within the framework of the conference, the leaders of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations will launch a new writing campaign about Dien Bien Phu; visit and present gifts to students of Him Lam Primary School; launch a children's painting contest on the theme of Dien Bien Phu Victory...

Associate Professor, Doctor, musician Do Hong Quan affirmed that the pilgrimage program to the source "Through the Northwest - Returning to Dien Bien" is a peak political and artistic activity of the literary and artistic community nationwide, aiming to promote the heroic tradition of our army and people, demonstrating the deep attachment and companionship of literature and art with the heroic history of the nation. Through that, artists are inspired to create, fueling the flame of patriotism and revolutionary heroism to continue to have new creative achievements, meeting the requirements of the cause of cultural revival, building Vietnamese people in the new era.

The event is organized to enhance cultural and artistic exchange activities, direct creative orientations, launch creative competitions for high-quality works in the fields of literature and art, worthy of the historical, cultural and revolutionary traditions of the nation, practically and successfully implement the Party's resolutions, towards the Congress of Central Specialized Literature and Art Associations and the Vietnam Union of Literature and Art Associations, term 2025 - 2030.

Thereby, honoring and deeply expressing gratitude to generations of Vietnamese people who have devoted, sacrificed, and made many contributions to the cause of fighting to protect independence and gain national reunification; promoting propaganda and promotion at home and abroad about the country, people, and literature and art in the new era.
