According to AFP news agency, on October 12, Hezbollah announced that it had carried out a drone attack on a military base in Haifa, northern Israel, the day before.

Hezbollah fighters carried out "an aerial attack using explosive-laden drones on an air defense base" in Haifa at 8pm local time (1700 GMT) on October 11, the statement said.

Earlier, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that Lebanon's Shi'ite Hezbollah movement fired about 230 artillery shells into Israel, also on October 11.

The IDF affirms that it will continue to protect Israel and its people.

Meanwhile, the militant group Hezbollah has warned Israelis to stay away from Israeli army sites in residential areas in the north of the country.

The group's statement in Arabic and Hebrew said the Israeli army "uses people's homes in northern Israel and has military bases inside residential areas in major occupied cities such as Haifa, Tiberias, Acre."

The group warned Israelis “not to go near these military gatherings to save their lives.”

After nearly a year of cross-border fighting, Israel has stepped up air strikes on what it says are Hezbollah militant group hideouts in Lebanon since September 23.

The escalation has claimed more than 1,200 lives and forced an estimated one million people to flee their homes. Hezbollah has repeatedly claimed to have fired rockets at areas in northern Israel.

On October 12, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf visited the Lebanese capital Beirut, where deadly Israeli attacks have occurred in recent weeks, and condemned these as “criminal” acts.

On October 12, Mr. Ghalibaf met with Prime Minister Najib Mikati and was informed that the Lebanese government “will push for a ceasefire,” the Lebanese National News Agency reported.
