Fighter aircraft demonstration at Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024

Scheduled to take place from December 19-22, 2024 at Gia Lam Airport, Phuc Dong Ward, Long Bien District, Hanoi, the second Vietnam International Defense Exhibition, hosted by the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, aims to share achievements and experiences in research, production, exploitation and use of weapons and technical equipment and promote cooperation in the defense industry between Vietnam and countries participating in the Exhibition.

Right from the first time it was held, the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2022 attracted a large number of defense agencies and enterprises to introduce modern products and technologies applied to defense and security to potential customers.

Returning in 2024 with a larger scale and stature, the 2024 Exhibition will be an international defense event attracting the attention and participation of many domestic and international delegations, agencies and businesses.

Looking for potential partners

With the theme "Peace, Friendship, Cooperation for Development", the 2024 Vietnam International Defense Exhibition aims to convey to the world a message of love for peace, demonstrating the spirit of Vietnam being friends with all countries in the world, a responsible and trustworthy partner in the international community, wishing to expand defense foreign relations, multilateralize, and be ready to cooperate for the benefit of peace, stability, and mutual development.

This is an important defense event, contributing to promoting international cooperation in the defense industry; receiving and transferring technology; learning and sharing experiences in management, production, receiving and transferring advanced scientific and technological advances to upgrade and modernize the defense industry; grasping the world's technology development trends in the design and manufacture of weapons and technical equipment to serve operations in high-tech warfare; promoting and introducing Vietnamese defense industry products.

At the same time, the activity also contributes to the process of promoting trade, finding partners and potential markets to participate in the production, supply and export chain of Vietnamese defense industrial products; introducing and promoting the country, people of Vietnam and the Vietnam People's Army to the world, contributing to enhancing the political position and voice of Vietnam in the international arena, accumulating experience and practical lessons to be ready to deploy the next International Defense Exhibitions, aiming to build the Vietnamese defense brand.

According to Major General Le Quang Tuyen, Deputy Head of the General Department of Defense Industry (Ministry of Defense), in terms of scale, the Exhibition is organized on a total area of ​​about 100,000m2, of which the indoor display area is 15,000m2 and the outdoor area is over 20,000m2.

Businesses will have the opportunity to introduce outstanding products, technologies, and solutions on national defense and security to the armed forces of Vietnam and other countries in the region.

At the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024, domestic and international defense enterprises will display and introduce combat vehicles, technological solutions, weapons, and equipment for all forces: navy, army, air defense - air force, cyber warfare, and technical logistics equipment.

The expected exhibition areas include: air defense and air force systems and equipment (aircraft: fighters, helicopters, trainers, unmanned; missiles: air-to-air, air defense, man-portable air defense; artillery systems, air defense missiles; other air defense and air force equipment).

Naval systems and equipment: submarines, warships, auxiliary vessels, unmanned vessels; reconnaissance, underwater observation, sonar equipment; torpedoes; mines; surface-to-sea missiles, sea-to-sea missiles; other naval equipment.

Army systems and equipment: infantry weapons, firepower weapons; infantry, artillery, anti-tank ammunition; day and night observation and aiming equipment; ground artillery, self-propelled artillery; multiple launch rocket systems, anti-aircraft artillery; ground-to-ground missiles, anti-tank missiles; tanks, armored vehicles, troop carriers, military transport vehicles, motorcycles, engineering equipment.

Security systems and equipment: biometrics; border control and security; civil defense systems and equipment; customs and immigration; counter-terrorism and internal state security systems; disaster and disaster relief systems, equipment and services; law enforcement; non-lethal weapons; optics and optoelectronics; protective tools and equipment; safety, rescue and disaster relief systems; cyber security crime prevention and control systems...

In addition, the Exhibition also displays products of communication equipment; equipment for chemical weapons prevention and control; weapons and equipment for special forces, radar warning and fire control; electronic warfare equipment, UAV prevention and control; reconnaissance and combat robots in the air, on the ground, on the water and underwater; C5I systems; cyber warfare systems; logistics equipment, soldier protection; training and simulation systems...

Participating in the Exhibition, Vietnam displayed products researched and manufactured by the Vietnamese defense industry from units under the General Department of Defense Industry, General Department of Engineering, Air Defense - Air Force, Navy, Armored Corps, Chemical Corps, Communications Corps, Institute of Military Science and Technology, Military Technical Academy, Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center, Military Industry - Telecommunications Group..., including outstanding and modern weapons and technical equipment products in the Vietnam People's Army.

Fighter and special forces demonstration

Among the main activities at the 2024 Exhibition, the highlight is the opening ceremony with a welcome flyover by the Vietnam People's Army Air Force, and a demonstration of special forces combined with service dogs.

Along with the display and introduction of defense and security products from defense industry companies, within the framework of the Exhibition, there will be many activities and events to exchange, promote cooperation between agencies, units with enterprises, enterprises with enterprises; seminars on military technology; activities to introduce economic achievements combined with defense; and unique cultural and artistic performances of Vietnam.

Notably, technical seminars with many specialized topics were selected, which were practical opportunities for manufacturers of weapons, defense and security equipment to introduce information about their products and technological solutions to agencies and units of the Vietnamese armed forces; listen to users' needs about the technical and technological challenges they are facing in order to jointly come up with solutions to improve and upgrade products and services.

At the same time, the connection between forces, defense cooperation agencies, domestic and international military trade agencies with manufacturers and suppliers of spare parts, components, semi-finished products and finished products will contribute to establishing partnerships for mutual development, bringing benefits to all parties.

Regarding international guests, the Ministry of National Defense plans to invite over 140 international delegations from 50 countries, including guests of the Minister of National Defense, Head of the Ministry of National Defense, Head of the General Staff, General Department of Politics, Commander of the Navy, Commander of the Air Defense-Air Force and General Department of Defense Industry. The high-level international delegations include ministers, deputy ministers, and commanders of defense and security forces of the countries.

Regarding domestic guests, the Ministry of National Defense invited leaders of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly, departments, ministries, branches, leaders of Hanoi city and localities, revolutionary veterans and people... to attend the Exhibition.

In addition, the Exhibition has the participation of the head of the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, leaders and commanders of military branches, general departments, military regions, army corps, academies, schools, research institutes... in the entire army.

In 2022, the first Vietnam International Defense Exhibition received the attention, support and participation of many management agencies and international and domestic delegates, with an indoor and outdoor exhibition area of ​​about 25,000m2; 175 participating companies from 31 countries; 6 national pavilions; 25,000 professional visitors; 300 domestic delegations; 52 international delegations.

Within the framework of the event, 80 bilateral meetings and 15 technical presentations took place.
