Busting a prostitution ring operating in showbiz

On November 3, the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security announced that the unit had just dismantled a large-scale prostitution ring operating in the Vietnamese showbiz industry, led by Huynh Thanh Thuan, born in 1990, from Kien Giang province, residing in District 4, Ho Chi Minh City, a makeup artist and personal style consultant (stylist).

Recently, the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security discovered that in the Vietnamese showbiz world, prostitution brokerage and buying and selling activities took place in many forms with sophisticated methods and tricks, causing negative impacts on Vietnam's cultural traditions.

From 2020 to present, the Criminal Police Department has established, successfully fought and destroyed many prostitution brokerage cases, prostitutes are contestants participating in beauty pageants, supermodels, actors, famous singers...

Prostitution brokers are often people directly involved in showbiz such as show organizers, managers, makeup artists, and personal style consultants; at the same time, it is determined that prostitution brokering in the form of "sextours" still exists.

The price of prostitution can be up to thousands of USD/tour, depending on the time and location of prostitution, whether domestic or foreign.

Using professional measures, on October 24, 2023, the Criminal Police Department presided over and coordinated with the Criminal Police Department of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial Police to catch 3 couples of men and women in the act of prostitution, including the prostitutes VTTT (model, famous tiktoker); HPTH (model, famous Facebooker) and LHP (model, beauty queen of Asia).

At the same time, the authorities stopped a couple preparing to leave the country for Singapore to engage in prostitution under the guise of foreign tourism. The prostitute was identified as TTL (singer).

Based on collected evidence, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency summoned and urgently searched the residences of 3 subjects for prostitution brokerage, including: Huynh Thanh Thuan, born in 1990, residing in District 4, Ho Chi Minh City, occupation: makeup artist, personal style expert; Pham Do Nhat Duy, born in 1985, residing in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, freelance worker; Le Thi Thu Thao, born in 1985, residing in Kien Giang province, freelance worker.

At the Investigation Agency, the three above-mentioned subjects confessed that they had been working as prostitution brokers since the beginning of 2023. During this process, Thuan, Thao, and Duy brokered for many prostitutes and customers, illegally earning hundreds of millions of dong.

On October 24, after someone wanted to buy sex from young, beautiful prostitutes working in showbiz, Huynh Ngoc Thuan introduced TTL, LHP, HPTH as models, beauty queens, and singers working in Vietnamese showbiz, regularly appearing in the media, and having a large following on social networks.

The price for sex buyers for prostitutes in this case is from 60 million VND to 100 million VND/domestic tour (2 days) and 6,000 USD for foreign tour (2 days).

On October 30, 2023, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency issued a Decision to prosecute the prostitution brokerage case; Decisions to prosecute the three defendants Huynh Thanh Thuan, Pham Do Nhat Duy and Le Thi Thu Thao. The above decisions and orders have been approved by the Supreme People's Procuracy.

Currently, the case is being further investigated and related subjects are being handled according to the provisions of law.
