On the evening of March 27, at the Hanoi Opera House, the "18th Dedication" awards ceremony took place.
The event was organized by Sports and Culture Newspaper in collaboration with News Television (VNews) and Ngoc Viet Corporation Company Limited to honor the most outstanding faces in the fields of Vietnamese sports and music.
This is the second year that the Dedication Awards have presented awards in both sports and music categories, honoring individuals and groups that have made outstanding contributions in these fields.
In the sports award system, there are up to 4 categories to be honored, including: Sports Face of the Year, Sports Achievement of the Year, Young Sports Face of the Year and Aspiration to Contribute. These are not only personal honors but also encouragement and motivation for the entire Vietnamese sports community, especially in the context of preparing for major events such as the 19th Asian Games and the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.
The award ceremony took place on Vietnam Sports Day, March 27, a day of special significance for the sports industry, marking the importance of honoring the achievements and efforts of athletes and coaches. The honored faces are not only symbols of dedication and tireless efforts but also a source of encouragement for the younger generations who love sports.
The Dedication Award is voted on through public and democratic forms, ensuring transparency and fairness in the voting process.
"What is more special is that the most outstanding faces honored were not selected by the Organizing Committee, the Sports and Culture Newspaper (VNA). They were voted by a large number of journalists with fair and public ballots, and supported by the public through votes for their idols. All of these choices were converted into points and a strict calculation formula was applied to determine the final winner in each category...", Editor-in-Chief of the Sports and Culture Newspaper, Le Xuan Thanh, Head of the Organizing Committee of the award, stated.
- Sports Achievement of the Year Award: The Vietnamese women's volleyball team, with its historic achievement of entering the Top 4 of Asia for the first time, won the "Sports Achievement of the Year" category.
- Young Sports Face of the Year Award: Player Tran Thi Ngoc Yen won the "Young Sports Face of the Year" category. At the age of 19, the female player of the national sepak takraw team brought home the 19th ASIAD gold medal for Vietnam sepak takraw after 17 years of waiting, in addition to the Asian and world championships in the 4-women's team event in 2023.
-In the category "Sports Face of the Year: Nguyen Huy Hoang, the swimmer from Quang Binh is the only representative to make it into the Top 3 nominations last season and continues to be nominated for the 2024 Sports Dedication Award. Achievements include winning tickets to the 2024 Olympics, winning 2 bronze medals at the 19th ASIAD and 3 gold medals, 1 bronze medal at the 32nd SEA Games.
- "Aspiration for Dedication" Award: This category is introduced for the first time in the 2024 Dedication Sports Award to honor individuals or groups with outstanding work, actions, and contributions in the socialization of sports, evoking passion, inspiring and spreading positive values in the community. The victory belonged to VietGoal Children's Football Center founded and run by Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam.
In the Music category, the title of New Artist of the Year: belongs to Double2T:
-Producer of the Year: This is the third time DTAP has been named in the Producer of the Year category. Previously, DTAP won the Dedication Award in this category in the 2020 and 2023 seasons.
-The Musician of the Year category of the 18th Dedication season belongs to Hua Kim Tuyen. He is the music producer for Van Mai Huong's album Minh tinh.
-Music Video of the Year: Den and his crew also won the Music Video of the Year award with Cooking for You.
-Song of the year is Double2T with the song A Loi (Composer: Bui Xuan Truong; Performer: Double2T ft Masew). This is a song that immediately created a fever when released thanks to capturing the psychology of listeners, especially young people.
Album of the year: The album Minh tinh by Van Mai Huong with the companionship of Hua Kim Tuyen has been highly appreciated by experts and audiences since its release.
-The Organizing Committee and the Voting Council of this year's Dedication Award have decided to consider awarding the 2024 Dedication Impression Award to the Organizing Committee of the Vietnamese Birds Art Program commemorating the 100th anniversary of musician Van Cao's birth because this program has spread, inspired and left a deep impression on the public and professionals.
- Program of the Year: This year's Devotion Season, musician Do Bao was nominated in 2 categories: Program of the Year with Do Bao & Friends. Mot minh van la (Do Bao x The Bros) and the Musician of the Year category.
-In the category of Program Series of the Year, Vietnam Idol 2023 was honored.
-Male singer of the year is Den. Den and singer Trung Quan are "rivals" in the same category of Male singer of the year.
- Female singer of the year was named Hoa Minzy. In the Top 5 official nominations of the 2024 Devotion Music Awards, Hoa Minzy appeared in 2 categories: Female singer of the year and Music Video of the year (with MV Thi Mau). This is considered a career step forward for this female singer after 10 years in the profession.
