As of 8:00 p.m. on June 27, authorities in Binh Thanh District (Ho Chi Minh City) were still blocking off the scene and investigating a house fire in Ward 17 that left two people dead.
3-storey house on fire
According to initial information, at around 6:15 p.m. the same day, a 3-story house located in alley 18 Nguyen Cuu Van Street, Ward 17, Binh Thanh District (Ho Chi Minh City) suddenly caught fire. Discovering the fire, people shouted and approached the house. However, the door was locked, preventing the on-site forces from entering.
Some witnesses at the scene said that there were two people inside the house, including an elderly woman nearly 90 years old and a sick man nearly 60 years old. When the fire was discovered, people approached the house and shouted but saw no sign of the two people inside.
Upon receiving the news, the Binh Thanh District Fire Department dispatched fire trucks and dozens of soldiers to the scene to extinguish the fire and search for trapped people.
Firefighters approached the house to put out the fire.
By nearly 7 p.m., the fire was under control and completely extinguished. Upon inspection, the Fire Department discovered that two people in the house had died.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
