According to the People's Court of Hai Duong province, compared to the same period in 2023, some groups of crimes tend to increase, including crimes in the fields of technology, information, and telecommunications networks.
On the afternoon of July 2, the Legal Committee of the Hai Duong Provincial People's Council reviewed the report on the work results of the Provincial People's Court in the first 6 months of 2024 to present at the 23rd session of the 17th Provincial People's Council.
According to the Provincial People's Court, in the first 6 months of 2024 (from October 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024), the two-level court accepted 4,803 cases and resolved 3,262 cases (reaching 68%). Compared to the same period in 2023, the number of accepted cases increased by 314 cases and resolved 173 more cases.
The court tried 660 criminal cases with 1,167 defendants. Of the defendants tried, the court imposed life imprisonment on 3 defendants; fixed-term imprisonment on 803 defendants; suspended prison sentences on 153 defendants; reform without detention on 17 defendants; and sent 8 defendants to a reform school.
Through the trial of criminal cases, it shows that compared to the same period in 2023, some groups of crimes tend to increase. Drug-related crimes increased by 85 cases; crimes against administrative management order increased by 12 cases; crimes in the fields of technology, information, and telecommunications networks increased by 5 cases...
At the review session, the leaders of the Provincial People's Council's Legal Committee highly appreciated the results achieved in the work of the Provincial People's Court in the first 6 months of the year. At the same time, they requested the Provincial People's Court to accept the opinions of the review team and complete the report to send to the Provincial People's Council before July 6, 2024 to present at the 23rd session of the 17th Provincial People's Council.
