This afternoon, striker Xuan Son returned to Hanoi and was transferred directly to Vinmec International General Hospital.
It is expected that at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, Nguyen Xuan Son will undergo surgery at Vinmec International General Hospital.
Striker Xuan Son had to leave the field in the middle of the first half of the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final due to a serious injury in the 32nd minute.
Immediately after the injury, the player was quickly taken to the hospital by ambulance, with staff from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) following closely to support. Xuan Son's wife was also present at the hospital and updated him on the match situation via phone. After the emergency treatment, Xuan Son regained consciousness and still tried to watch his teammates play.
After discussing with doctors, VFF decided to bring striker Xuan Son back to the country for surgery and treatment at the Orthopedic Trauma & Sports Medicine Center, Vinmec International General Hospital.
At the time Xuan Son was injured, there were two treatment options. One was to let Xuan Son stay in Thailand for treatment. The other was to bring the striker back home. However, the VFF decided to bring Xuan Son back home for surgery on a fracture in his right leg.
The Orthopedic Trauma & Sports Medicine Center is a specialty that specializes in treating injuries and conditions related to the musculoskeletal system and ligaments, and in-depth rehabilitation in sports medicine.
At Vinmec, the concept of “individualization” is applied throughout the surgical and recovery stages. Unlike traditional surgical methods, where surgery mainly depends on the surgeon’s experience, Vinmec applies advanced 3D technology to create detailed plans for each patient.
Every patient’s wound is analyzed and recreated 100% accurately on a 3D model, helping doctors accurately calculate the surgical plan and predict possible risks. Replacement grafts are designed as “tailor-made” for each patient, thereby optimizing surgical results.
After surgery, patients will receive support from a multidisciplinary team, including nutritionists, psychologists and rehabilitation specialists. Doctors closely monitor the recovery process to help patients return to sports activities safely and effectively.
