After more than a month, the Organizing Committee of the ASEAN Cup 2024 (AFF Cup) returned the gold medal of the regional football tournament to striker Nguyen Tien Linh.
On February 8, striker Tien Linh boasted that he had received a gold medal from the ASEAN Cup Organizing Committee. Previously, after helping the Vietnamese team defeat Thailand to lift the championship trophy, the Binh Duong Club striker received a medal printed with the words "RUNNER-UP" instead of "CHAMPIONS" like his teammates.
VFF immediately contacted the tournament organizers to exchange the medal for Tien Linh. After more than a month, the striker wearing the number 22 shirt received a "genuine" champion medal.
At the recent ASEAN Cup, Tien Linh scored 4 goals, the same number of goals as Suphanat, Patrik and Shawal. Nguyen Xuan Son was the player who won the Golden Boot award with 7 goals, and was also voted the best player of the tournament by the Organizing Committee.
Currently, Tien Linh and Binh Duong are preparing for the away match against Quang Nam, in round 12 of LPBank V-League 2024/25. With what he has shown in the Vietnam national team and the club, he is a strong candidate for the title of Vietnam Golden Ball 2024.
