Many people went to Long Chau pharmacy chain in Hai Duong city to buy Tamiflu but it was out of stock.

On January 9, a representative of the Long Chau pharmacy chain in Hai Duong said that Tamiflu - a drug to treat influenza A - has been in short supply for about a month now.

Tamiflu 75mg imported from Switzerland has a retail price of 69,000 VND/tablet.

Some stores in the Long Chau pharmacy chain in Hai Duong city and other districts no longer have the medicine for sale. Some stores still have it, but only 1-2 boxes for retail sale to customers with a doctor’s prescription.

Many pharmacies on Ly Thuong Kiet Street (Hai Duong City) are also out of Tamiflu. Some establishments still have Tamiflu from Russia and Thailand, but the quantity is not much and it is expected to run out in the next few days. Importing a new batch of Tamiflu at this time is not easy.

Influenza A has been breaking out in many provinces and cities, including Hai Duong, for over a month now. In Hai Duong, every day dozens of children with influenza A have to go to the Children's Hospital for examination and treatment. In the community, there are also many adults and children with influenza A who are being treated at home.

Patients should only use Tamiflu when prescribed by a doctor.

Staff at some pharmacies said that recently people have been stockpiling Tamiflu to treat when needed. However, according to doctors, patients can only use Tamiflu when prescribed.

People need to strictly follow the recommendations of the health sector in preventing influenza A. When showing signs of illness, high fever, fatigue... they need to go to medical facilities or contact a doctor for advice and support, do not buy medicine for use on their own.
