According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh, the visit took place just over a week after General Secretary To Lam's visit to Singapore, so this is a step to implement the perceptions and agreements that the two countries' senior leaders reached during General Secretary To Lam's visit.

Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam said the focus of General Secretary To Lam's recent visit to Singapore was to reaffirm the two countries' shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Therefore, the Singaporean Prime Minister's schedule in Vietnam also reflects this goal, at the same time, finding solutions so that Singapore and Vietnam can further strengthen their relationship to overcome difficulties together, enhance resilience and rise strongly.
