Mr. Tran Tien Dung, 50 years old, Deputy Minister of Justice, was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
The decision on personnel transfer was handed to Mr. Dung by Head of the Central Organizing Committee Le Minh Hung on January 18 at the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee. Mr. Dung replaces Mr. Bui Van Nghiem, who was transferred to be Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee.
The new Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee is from Nam Dinh province, has a master's degree in Law, and has worked in the judicial sector for more than 20 years. He has matured through many positions at the Ministry of Justice from specialist; secretary assisting the Ministry's leaders; secretary to the Minister, Deputy Secretary assisting the Ministry's leaders, Deputy Chief of Office; Chief of Office and Chairman of the Ministry's Trade Union. In 2016, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Justice.
In early 2019, Mr. Dung was appointed by the Secretariat to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee for the 2015-2020 term. He was then elected Chairman of the Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee and re-elected to this position for the 2021-2026 term. In May 2023, he was transferred back to hold the position of Deputy Minister of Justice.
Vinh Long province is over 1,479 km2 wide, located in the center of the Mekong Delta, between the Tien and Hau rivers; population over one million people. In the 2015-2020 term, the province achieved an economic growth rate of nearly 5%, with per capita income in 2020 reaching 55.5 million VND, an increase of 18 million VND compared to 2015.
