Nguyen Thuy Linh won the Vietnam Open 2023 badminton tournament after defeating Japanese player Kurihara.

Nguyen Thuy Linh is ranked 27th in the world and is the number 1 seed of the tournament. Meanwhile, Kurihara is ranked 156th in the world. However, the Japanese athlete created many difficulties for Thuy Linh in the final match.

Kurihara started the game better, leading Thuy Linh in the first points. After a tentative start, Nguyen Thuy Linh increased the speed. She continuously pushed the ball to the two corners of the court, then unexpectedly dropped or smashed the ball in the opposite direction of her opponent's movement to win points.
