American electric car company Tesla is planning to recall nearly all cars circulating in the US market to fix a software error that causes the indicator lights on the dashboard to be too small.
In a February 2 announcement, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said Tesla will recall Model S vehicles manufactured from 2012 to 2023, Model X from 2016-2023, Model 3 from 2017-2023, Model Y from 2019-2024 and Cybertruck 2024. The reason is that the size of the brake lights and parking lights displayed on the dashboard is smaller than the NHTSA's safety standards.
The software bug could cause drivers to miss safety warnings, increasing the risk of a crash. Tesla has begun rolling out an over-the-air software update. Owners will receive notifications starting March 30.
Last month, Tesla also recalled nearly 200,000 cars in the US because the vehicles had a software bug that could cause the rearview camera to not work when the car was in reverse.
