The sudden death of a 19-day-old baby left people in Phuong Hoang village, Cam Hoang commune (Cam Giang, Hai Duong) shocked and saddened by the young couple.
These days, people in Phuong Hoang village, Cam Hoang commune (Cam Giang) are still shocked by the incident that happened to the family of Mr. Vu Xuan Nam and his wife, Ms. Nguyen Thi Luong (both born in 1993). Mr. Nam and his wife had just welcomed the joy of having their second child when the heartbreaking incident happened.
According to the family, at around 2:00 p.m. on May 8, neighbors heard the desperate cries for help from Mr. Nam and his wife and immediately ran over. At that time, Mr. Nam had put out the fire and brought his wife and children out in a state of severe burns. Immediately afterwards, the three family members were taken to the Hai Duong Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment, then transferred to the National Burn Hospital (Hanoi). The newborn baby girl, who was only 19 days old, died on the way to the emergency room.
For the past 4 days, relatives from both sides of the family have been taking turns to take care of Mr. Nam and his wife at the National Burn Hospital. Currently, the couple's health is critical. Ms. Luong is still in a coma and needs a ventilator. Mr. Nam himself suffered severe burns and had to have his entire body bandaged. On May 10, Mr. Nam's health took a turn for the worse when he developed a high fever.
It is known that Mr. Nam and his wife also have an 8-year-old son, fortunately when the incident happened, the child was at school and escaped unharmed. Mr. Nam and his wife are workers, with a limited income. Both parents are also constantly ill, with the current cost of hospital treatment for Mr. Nam and his wife, it is really too difficult for the family.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Thang, Chairman of Cam Hoang Commune People's Committee, said that when the incident occurred, local leaders promptly arrived to coordinate with the authorities to verify and investigate the cause of the incident. The local government promptly supported the family with 2 million VND to organize the child's funeral. Currently, local leaders have launched a policy to mobilize departments and organizations to support the family. "We hope that the family will receive the community's support to soon overcome this difficult period," Mr. Thang said.
