In response to the boycott from Nghe An fans, the leaders of Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) hope that fans will sympathize with the team after a series of recent bad results.
"I hope fans sympathize, understand and always accompany the team no matter what the result is because SLNA always plays with the motto of giving our all for the flag and the shirt," SLNA General Director Truong Manh Linh sent a message to the fans.
SLNA is facing a wave of protests and strong criticism from the fan community after a series of poor results. Supporter groups from Nghe An even "abandoned" the team in the match against Ho Chi Minh City Club in round 21 of the V-League, not coming to the stadium to cheer for their team as usual. Instead, they traveled to Binh Duong to cheer for Hong Linh Ha Tinh.

On social media, many SLNA fans criticized their team for not playing their best when they were already in a safe position and not having to worry about relegation. In the match against Ho Chi Minh City, the bottom team, the Nghe An team did not even use foreign players in the starting lineup and only managed a draw.
“In the matches since the beginning of the season, the whole team has always tried their best to achieve the best results to meet the expectations of the leaders and contribute to the fans. However, in football, not every team can do that, and SLNA is no exception," said SLNA General Director Truong Manh Linh.
The leader of the Nghe An football team affirmed that the team did not play well due to technical and capacity reasons and promised to improve.
"This season, although we have not satisfied the fans, through the recent difficulties, we will overcome and strive to play better in the next matches, the next season. SLNA Club is always grateful and appreciates the undying love of SLNA fans and supporters for the team. We hope that fans will sympathize, understand and always accompany the team no matter what the result is because SLNA always plays with the motto of giving our all for the flag and the shirt", said Mr. Truong Manh Linh.
SLNA has only won one of its last nine matches. The disappointment of Nghe An fans towards their team has increased further when Que Ngoc Hai and some players have also made statements expressing their "anger" in response to the boycott of fan groups.
Defender Thai Ba Sang has admitted his mistake after commenting "only need quality, not quantity" on a controversial post by Que Ngoc Hai.
"I apologize for my impulsive moment, but the content is not that serious. I myself am a player, no one goes on the field without wanting to win, so sometimes winning and sometimes losing is something no one wants. I affirm that there is never negativity in the thoughts of each player," Thai Ba Sang wrote on his personal Facebook.
